5 Inspiring Books to Add to Your Reading List

I love reading. Especially in the fall, when the wind is blowing outside my window, and I’m curled up under a blanket with my favorite tea next to me. My taste in books varies. From self-help spiritual books which help me get my s*** together, entrepreneurial treasures training me on everything I need to know to become a boss babe, and good romantic novels, helping me rest my brain and indulge, I just love to read.

I actually used to hate reading when I was younger. I think school ruined it for me, forcing me to read books I had no interest in. Aside from textbooks, which were usually dull, most of the books chosen by my teachers didn’t make me love reading at all. That was until the day I read Anne of Green Gables, which completely transformed reading for me. My Polish teacher in 6th grade assigned it to our class. I still remember how much that book inspired me. I am forever grateful to Anne and her rebellious spirit for igniting my love of book reading.

Today I read and listen to books for a few hours each week. With Audible so easily accessible on my walks with Luna and in my car when I’m driving, I can listen to half a book a week. Thank goodness for that app! I want to share a list of books that have been hella inspirational in my life for various reasons. They have been game-changers for me in my life and my business.

BIG MAGIC BY ELIZABETH GILBERT

Liz Gilbert is one of my favorite writers of all time. Thanks to her ability to bring wisdom, courage, and humor into her writing, I cannot put her books down. The “Big Magic” is definitely one of those books. It aims to inspire you to bring out your creative spirit. It looks into how our mindsets, choices, and lifestyles inspire our creativity in everyday life. It is a total must-read if you’re feeling stuck in a rut or are struggling to keep your creative juices flowing. The “Big Magic” is the perfect book to help bring your creative spirit to light.

EVERYTHING IS FIGUREOUTABLE BY MARIE FORLEO

This is a must-read for everyone. Marie Forleo, the business queen herself, shares her enthusiastic view of getting through almost every situation in life with practical, funny, and helpful advice. I loved this book so much that I’ve read it twice. “Everything is Figureoutable” will train your brain to think more creatively and positively, even in the face of setbacks. Whether you want to start a business, quit drinking, lose weight, travel the world, learn to play the guitar, or do anything in life that seems almost impossible, this book is for you.

WILD BY CHERYL STRAYED

This book speaks volumes in terms of overcoming obstacles in life. It’s a memoir that explores dealing with grief and finding your true self while traveling solo for 1,100 miles on the Pacific Crest Trail. Cheryl Strayed shares the most gruesome and vulnerable details of her life growing up, and her journey of rising above all of those things and carrying on throughout life. I am so glad I picked up this book and have since gifted it to many friends. Do yourself a favor and add it to your reading list.

OUTRAGEOUS OPENNESS: LETTING THE DIVINE TAKE THE LEAD BY TOSHA SILVER

A friend recommended this book to me, and I am so glad she did. It is a collection of life stories, spiritual lessons, and thoughts on divine intervention in our daily lives. It’s incredibly engaging and brilliantly written. The book inspires it’s readers to live with purpose and in line with the universe. Tosha’s personal stories teach you how to stop worrying and being afraid of the unknown and immersing yourself in unconditional trust. This book is a must-read to help you trust everything in life is divinely inspired.

DO LESS BY KATE NORTHRUP

This book is the breath of fresh air you need to help you realize that working more does not mean bigger results. Kate inspires you to work smarter, not harder, and do less in your life and business to bring the same or even better results. It debunks our society’s addiction to busyness and the obsession with always trying to do more, especially by women. “Do Less” offers the reader a series of 14 experiments to try and see what would happen in you did less in one specific way. Are you ready to gain back control over your time? Then this is the book for you.

I hope you pick up at least one of these books. They are some of my absolute favorite reads and have inspired me in various ways in my life and business. Whether you want to awaken your creative genius, figure out anything you wish for in life, overcome the biggest obstacles, let the divine back into your life, or do less and get more, these books are for you. Let me know if you have read any of them or plan to read them in the future. Slide into my DMs on IG @lena.livinsky. It’s where I’m the most active! Happy reading.
